Narrowboat Boilerplate (Semi Traditional) Price £43,900 (Reduced for quick sale) – Offers considered.  Below is a synopsis of the Boat and its systems. I’ve tried to make each part self-explanatory but if you have any questions please feel free to contact me on the number at the bottom. Thanks for lookingSteve

Kitchen.

Large Fitted Solid wood kitchen with spacious cupboards including a full height cupboard for coats etc, next to the main doors.

 Full size oven (LPG)

A full size four gas ring hob with a separate grill and oven. (The Gas supply to the oven is from three propane cylinders located in the gas locker at the front of the boat)

Belfast Sink.

(This drains into a tank underneath the sink which contains an automatic drainage pump that vents to the outside of the Narrowboat)

Paloma Style Gas Hot Water heater.

(An ‘on demand’ hot water system running on the LPG propane gas in the forward locker – when the tap is turned on the gas burners ignite and heat the water as it is pumped through the boiler giving instant hot water). This runs hot water to the kitchen sink and bathroom shower.

12 Volt Fridge.

Runs from the narrowboats leisure batteries which are in turn charged from either the engine, petrol generator or in summer the three 12v (40 watt) roof mounted solar panels.

 Large Living/Lounge area.

Between the kitchen area and lounge there is more that adequate space for a dining table and chairs if required.

 75 Gallon Water Tank

Large water tank located under the front deck area. There is a filling cap on the front deck and access to the tank is through a hatch located in the kitchen. There is enough room to add a further tank if required.

Gas Locker

The Gas locker at the front of the boat contains three propane (orange) gas cylinders. These are connected to the Gas systems on the boat and feed the Gas hot water system and the Oven. The locker also contains an in-line ‘Bubble’ gas leak detector.

Central Heating

Three hidden radiators (two in the lounge and one in the bathroom) are fed by a drip feed a Kabola E5 diesel burner. There is also an in-line Calorifier Hot water tank that gives an extra supply of hot water when the central heating is switched on.
Floors, Walls, Ceiling and Insulation
Solid wood pine flooring throughout. Walls are Egyptian Oak fronted ply panels and a Pine tongue and groove roof.Integral shelving imbedded into the wall in the lounge area give plenty of room for DVD’s, CD’s and a flat panel LCD Freeview TV. The walls and ceiling were Spray foam insulated prior to panelling. The interior metal under the floorboards was Cleaned and Wax-oiled (water sealed) prior to ballasting.
Berths
Currently this is just a two berth, (small double bed) on a raised frame approximately three and a half foot high. This gives a large amount of storage space beneath. There is recessed shelving above the bed and the light-switch can be reached from the sleeping position.Further berths can be easily added by replacing the couch with a foldaway futon. With the addition of extra partition walls the sleeping capacity could easily be extended still further. There is a large chest of drawers at the foot of the bed.
Bathroom
Full size cast iron / enamelled roll top bath with powerful shower (see pictures) and auto drain via pump out drain box. Separate toilet area for Chemical Toilet. This will be replaced by a brand new model on completion of sale. The bathroom also has Hatches into under-floor bilge area.

Windows.

Eight large Dutch Barge style windows and two side doors/windows (one by the bed and the other in the lounge).
Television
LCD television with built in Freeview supplied. Also included low wattage DVD / CD player
Lighting

There are 20w Halogen lights throughout controlled by imbedded brass wall switches.

Electricals

Power is supplied by two leisure deep cycle (easily rechargeable) 110ah batteries. There is also another battery of the same type that is only used as an engine starter battery.

All 12v electrics run through a main fuse box in the engine room. The batteries are charged using any of the three following methods.

(i)                 Engine. Fastest. Running the engine charges the batteries by utilising the alternator controlled by a Kestrel alternator controller. This ensures the alternator remains charging at continuous peak efficiency. Without this the alternator charge will drop off after a short time. Alternator controllers are common to narrowboats.

(ii)               Petrol Generator. Fast. The unleaded petrol generator (supplied) connected direct to the battery bank gives a continuous 8.5amp delivery charge and quickly charges the batteries.

(iii)             Solar Panels. Speed dependent on available light. The three solar panels provide 40w (combined 120w) of power with a maximum of 6amps each. On a normal summer day no other charging should be necessary.

Engine

The engine is a marinised 3KC1 three cylinder 25 horsepower Diesel engine. This has recently had a brand new drive plate fitted. The engine requires some small attention which is reflected in the asking price.

External Paintwork.

The Boat has been painted (Poppy red sides with a Cream roof) within the last two years however this is not complete and some parts need re-touching and others areas have been primed recently ready for painting.

BSC (Boat safety certificate)

The Boat was recently inspected and now holds a new BSC to 01/04/2013.

A full Hull survey was completed in 2005 and can be provided on request

Mooring.

Boilerplate currently has no permanent mooring. She is currently moored on the Mill Stream in Oxford which is part of the Thames and has been in the same place for two years. There are water points on the far side of the stream and a place to empty the toilet as the end of the Oxford Canal (the Hythe Bridge Arm containing permanent Narrowboat moorings) runs parallel to the Mill stream at that point.

Build

Boilerplate was sold to me as a shell with only a little history known. The Survey indicated that she was only 10-15 years old and due to the unusual features (large Dutch barge style windows and very large fore-deck) was probably a private build. A full History can probably be traced using the BW (British Waterways) registration number, this is unfortunately something I haven’t had the time to do.

Licence
The Boat currently holds a Gold river and Canal licence. This is renewable yearly. Information on Licences can be found at:
